Peter had the perfect answer in verses 68-69: Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”
Where would we go? Your words are the words of life. You are the only One who gives us eternal life. It is through your blood sacrifice that we are forgiven. Peter didn't say all of that, but it was all in that statement of belief.
