Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
How can we imitate God? We don't have His holiness, and we don't have His power. His love and kindness are way beyond what we can do. How do we imitate God?
As beloved children. We don't duplicate God, but we can imperfectly follow Him where He leads, and do what we see Him do. Our children are not smaller versions of us. They imitate us as best they can.
We are to imitate God the best we can, even though we will fail at times. But we are not done there. We are to walk in love. How?
We are to love as Christ loved us. How did He love us? He gave Himself up for us. So how are we to love others? By giving of ourselves. By sacrificing our own lives and interests to show others the love of Jesus.
Are you an imitator of God? Do you walk in love? Do others see Jesus in you?
