Psalm 147:16-17 says: He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes.
He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold?
This past week of Thanksgiving, we have received 48 inches of snow in 4 days. We are still snowed in, on a waiting list for a plow truck big enough to get through our very long 2 driveways. That makes me thankful for the next verse: He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. (Verse 18)
It helps, too to remember Who is in control, and that He has a purpose in everything He does.
As Isaiah 55:10-11 says: For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Isn't it good to know that even 4 feet of snow has a purpose? And since that is true, we can trust that God's Word will also sprout in us, growing up to produce good fruit in our lives.
