let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods. - Psalm 95:1-3
Do we believe it? Do we really believe that the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods? Do we believe that He is greater than the greatest king, the greatest god, and even more, do we believe that He is greater than us?
Too much of our time is spent on our desires. Too little is spent following Christ. Too much of our energy goes to ourselves. Too little goes to serving Him. Too much of our worship is self-directed. If He is the King above all gods, how can I not worship Him?
Tony Evans made a great illustration. His granddaughter is heading to college to the tune of $36.000 per year. He said he doesn't want to hear about her partying, or getting a B when she could have gotten an A. Because the cost was too great. The cost was too great to take it for granted, and especially to waste time and effort on meaningless pursuits.
2000 years ago, the cost was even greater. Don't take it for granted. Don't waste your time and effort on meaningless pursuits. The cost was too great.
How about you? How will you spend this day? Will you give it to yourself, or will you give it to God?
